Taking a selection of anonymous ballads from the early seventeenth century, Talmorney was drawn to compose new music to the lyrics of ‘The Good-Fellows Complaint’, a dissenting song about the rising costs of living which speaks directly to what many are feeling in the current climate. Themed around 'beer-flation' in Talmorney's version, the crippling impact on trade of rising costs is expressed in a rousing chorus. It is a rich yet carefully orchestrated atmospheric arrangement featuring Talmorney’s signature gentle melodic vocals leading us through a varied tapestry of parts in the style of period instruments. The EP contains three companion songs with lyrics from the same period in acoustic versions for piano and solo voice. This EP introduces material from Talmorney's upcoming album 'On the Mending Hand' scheduled for release in spring 2023.
